Back Garden
We are in the process of purchasing derelict land to the rear of our property, therefore we need you to help us to transform this area and create a
garden fit for our active family, we are both P.E teachers
Create a large open garden over 2 levels with plenty of space to cater for the wide variety of sports the kids love including ; a level lawn to play football and a hard surface to play court games like
basketball and tennis.
Although this garden has its practical elements we have also designed a large quiet space at the bottom of the garden to relax and unwind.
We cleared the derelict site of trees, building material, wood, metal, plastic and even foundation from an previously owned railway store from the 1900s. We segregated all waste to reduce cost as well as minimising amount of waste going to landfill. The existing garden was then cleared and we commenced a full excavation including excavation of the foundation for our 30m retaining wall. Whilst carrying out initial clearance and excavation we removed 3ton of scrap metal, 15 ton of timber, 30ton mixed waste and 195ton of spoil.
We hired in a reputable company to carry out the construction of the retaining wall which was a highly skilled part of the project working to civil engineers specifications. The wall was to run 30m long and stood 1.2m high. Built on a robust foundation where we used 10 cubic metres of concrete and used 1500 concrete block to construct. Whilst the wall was being built our team continued with ground works installing drainage and preparing the ground for landscaping works. We used 90ton of type1 mot to prepare initial sub base.
Once the wall was constructed it was time to erect the 80m perimeter fence . The 1.8 metre slatted timber fencing secured the site again. Our team then worked away installing kerbs and finalising sub base for paved areas. We also had to prepare a sufficient base for a 4.5mx4.5m out house and a 1.8m x 2.4m shed to be installed later. It was then time to lay 147m sq of Indian sand stone and 110m sq of block paving. We then built the bespoke timber sleeper planters and constructed a stepping stone pathway leading to the large patio area.
Once all paving and construction work was complete it was onto laying the 250msq lawn using 30 ton of sub soil and 30 tone of top soil. It was all hand on deck and we laid this lawn in 1 day. It was then time for the outside contractor to erect the timber out house and garden shed. We finished the project with planting and laying decorative stones prior to final clear up and wash down of the site. And of course we carry out our client walk round.
“First class service from start to finish. Marc and the team took on board all of our wishes from our first planning meeting and came up with a design that gave us a practical garden but with the WOW factor. There were several meetings before the project started to ensure we were happy with the design. The staff were incredibly professional throughout and absolutely everything was done with precision, all the while liaising with us to ensure that they were providing the garden space that we desired. Nothing was ever a bother as we progressed through the project and even when the team was faced with unexpected issues they always came up with excellent solutions. I would highly recommend Murray Landscapes and they have given us our dream garden.”
